Morality Model Schools, HCU, PTTF, and LGU Officials Unite to Advance the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals Samutprakarn, Thailand —

Huachiew Chalermprakiet University (HCU), under the leadership of President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uraipan Janvanichyanont, joined forces with local government high schools, officials from local government units (LGUs), and the Poh Tech Tung Foundation (PTTF)—Thailand’s largest Chinese non-governmental organization— to initiate a cross-sector dialogue on advancing the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The dialogue centered on aligning resources, including human, natural, financial, and infrastructural assets, to drive SDG-focused initiatives. Participants worked to identify priority SDGs, coordinate related activities, and outline an evaluation process for the project’s impact. As part of this collaborative effort, HCU pledged to provide expert guidance and financial support for high schools meeting specific project criteria, while the PTTF, through the Dr. Udhen Techapaiboon Scholarship Fund, committed to offering full scholarships for students to pursue undergraduate degrees at HCU. LGUs offered skilled personnel to lead capacity-building training, and the participating schools provided facilities as project venues.

The meeting, held on Thursday, March 23, 2023, in Meeting Room 1 on the 2nd Floor of the Administration Building, was attended by HCU’s Vice Presidents: Dr. Siriwan Tantravanich, Dr. Jonathan Rante Carreon, and Mr. Chalerm Kwaeng-in; Asst. Prof. Panarai Saengwichian from the Dr. Udhen Techapaiboon Scholarship Fund committee; the Directors of four participating government high schools; and local government officials.

A representative from the participating schools—Maha Pap Kra Jad Thong Uppatham School, Luang Pho Pan Klong Dan Anusorn School, Bang Nam Priao Wittaya School, and Don Chim Phli Wittayakom School—shared his gratitude:

“We are deeply thankful to Huachiew Chalermprakiet University and the Poh Tech Tung Foundation for giving our schools the opportunity to join the Moral School Project, inspired by HCU’s sustainability model. Our school has adopted HCU’s moral framework to promote good deeds through various student activities. This commitment to positive action is continually reinforced by the university, and with the support of the Dr. Udhen Techapaiboon Poh Tech Tung Foundation Fund, students who demonstrate these values are encouraged to further their education and continue their acts of kindness.”

This initiative reflects HCU’s ongoing commitment to providing sustainable education, as well as its mission to bridge educational resources with local community efforts, especially in promoting SDGs—a goal well aligned with HCU’s core values in health sciences, Chinese studies, and sustainable community engagement.
